The reason it opens fine in Adobe sw is because they use their own raw converter and not rely on Apple's OS X raw converter. So, either you don't have the latest digital camera raw update from apple 6.18, 12/2015 or there is some other problem. By installing this program, you can display the RAW data on Explorer or Photo Gallery in Windows Vista ® in the same way as JPEG files.

Sony RAW Driver is a program to display Sony RAW data (ARW/SR2/SRF files) on Windows ® 8.1 Windows ® 10. The link shows what files are supported by the OS: Downloading of Sony RAW Driver has been discontinued since March, 2020. Every raw file has an embedded jpeg file in it, albeit at a lower resolution.

This only started happening after the last A7ii Firmware update. Files open and display correctly in Photoshop and LR CC.

So there is no JPEG preview for the Finder to use.
